Live [Part 2]: RTX 2080 Ti 48 Hour Stress Test, Will Our FE Card Die?
What is this live stream? Well after a recent report from HardOCP (links below) where two of their Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition cards died after 8+ hours of stress testing, we wanted to see whether our 2080 Ti was a good sample, or whether it would also die under lengthy stressful usage.
We hadn’t ever used our 2080 Ti for this long in one go, it should work, but with recent failures it’s unclear whether that would actually be the case. Our particular card has never shown any signs of failure and we certainly don’t expect it to die during this test. But it does get very hot, so potentially a long period of use could cause some components to fail when they shouldn’t.
The stream allows us and you guys to monitor the card’s progress, and it gives us an easy recorded video we can scroll through in case the card does die during the test.
The card is being run at stock clocks in our Core i7-8700K test rig inside the Be Quiet Dark Base 700, with 16GB of DDR4-3000 and a Corsair RM750x power supply. We’ll occasionally monitor temperatures through some thermocouples.
